Dear Leader,
I trust this meets you in pursuit of wisdom.
Typically, everyone avoids problems and tries to run away from problems.
By default, I also do not like problem.
But there is something I have learnt.
The fastest way to gain leadership is problem solving.
So I stopped avoiding problems. I am learning to accept that people who like trouble and love to solve problems are always invited to rooms where leaders sit.
So if you want to be invited into rooms where global leaders converge, be a trouble hunter and problem solver.
The ability to solve problems comes from experience in facing and overcoming obstacles. If you never try, fail and try again, you will never master the difficulty.
So, to improve your problem solving skills, here are my few hacks:
- Look for trouble. While growing up, our parents do not like us looking for troubles not knowing that avoiding trouble is keeping us away from leadership conversations. Don’t avoid problems, attack them. Look for them. We learn to solve problems by pursuing them, not running away from them.
- Develop a method. Because I am a very routine person, I like to create systems for everything. Systems are like short cuts to me. It makes problem solving easier. Come up with a system. Take time to discover the real issue, find out what others have done, study options and prioritise solutions and try one. Then create a system around it.
- Surround yourself with problem solvers. Make friends who are entrepreneurial in thinking and approach. Entrepreneurs like problems and solve problems for a living and for profit. Find people who complement your weaknesses, especially if you are still learning to be a good problem solver.
One thing I know is that if you are good at problem solving, you will always be invited into rooms where global leaders are gathered.
What problems are you committed to solving?
I’m rooting for you,
Great
