Most of the time when a person gets his first job, it means that someone in authority of some sort believes that the new hire has some degree of potential to produce desired results.
Same with leadership.
When you are given a position for the first time, it means someone or some group of people believe that you have some degree of potential for leading.
It’s all good news and something to celebrate; that someone believes in you, but sometimes we miss the headline.
To Jumpstart your career, your initial goal should be to show “those who believe in you” and the team that you deserve the responsibility you have received.
So, the problem people face in their careers sometimes is not that people do not believe in them, but that many are not ready for the opportunity and therefore disappointed.
You have been given the opportunity. Now, sit down, take the job description again, look at it again and again, clarify with authorities by asking “what does success mean”? And focus on delivering excellently.
You don’t wish for it, you work for it.
