Dear Leaders,
I trust this meets you in pursuit of wisdom.
It is very easy for young leaders to drift.
Without visions, plans and strategy, many young leaders start their tenure well but the problem is that once they begin to get some level of results, track record of accomplishments and experience, they often abandon the lifestyle that helped them reach the top.
I have seen young leaders who started well, but along the line they think they have become indispensable. They suddenly think they now have it all figured out, they have the crowd, the followers and other perks in leadership.
Then they start ignoring the very rules and principles that they established or endorsed. They no longer keep the rules but they often want their followers to continue to follow them.
What these young leaders don’t understand is that your leadership stops where you stop leading yourself. People do what they see their leaders do, not necessarily what they hear their leaders say.
If you stop doing what made you successful as a leader, you will start losing those who follow your leadership.
Principles are not only to be kept until you gain the title and following of a leader. There are no holidays to living a principled life as a leader.
If you want to succeed as a leader and finish well, then you have to continually model the kind of life you desire in your followers.
There are no days off in the life of a leader. You cannot afford to take a break from leading and from leading well. The stakes are high.
You are the example your people are watching and modeling their life after.
Model the life. Be a worthy example.
As always,
I am rooting for you,
Great
