How to LEAD Everyday with 4 Questions

Dear Leader,

I trust this meets you in pursuit of wisdom.

We have successfully completed Quarter 1 – 90 days out of 365 days in 2025.

It’s a new week and as always I count it a privilege to write to you.

I have a goal to add value to people I meet daily, and in doing so, I wake up to ask myself a few questions every day. Out of the many questions I ask myself, these 4 questions guide me in pursuit of self leadership:

  1. What am I LEARNING today?
  2. Who am I EQUIPPING today?
  3. Who am I APPRECIATING today?
  4. What am I DELIVERING today?

I use the answer to these 4 questions to plan my day and my week.

When it comes to leading myself and adding value to people, I take time every day to answer these questions. It helps me think deeply and plan adequately.

Question 1 – What am I LEARNING? helps me gauge how much am I investing in myself. I am intentional about learning something daily because the most important investment I will ever make is in myself. That investment will determine the return that I get out of life. I want to be sure I am investing enough in myself.

Investing in myself includes studying the word of God everyday, reading books, taking a course or completing a training. I believe everything gets better when I get better, so I make it a daily routine.

To talk a bit more about this to you as a leader, there are 3 things I have realised that determines how people invest in themselves.

  1. How people see themselves determines how they invest in themselves. How you see yourself determines how much you invest in yourself.
  2. How people see their future determines how much they invest in themselves. The size of your vision determines the size of your investment. You will not invest in yourself more than the size of your vision. If I see your budget for self development monthly, I can get a sense of how big or small your vision is.
  3. The kind of company you keep determines how much you invest in yourself. Because we only go as far as our support or association allows.

Question 2 – Who am I EQUIPPING? helps me put the focus of who I am and what I am learning on others. We are all here for a purpose bigger than ourselves and we must genuinely be interested in others. If we don’t pay attention to this, we may be distracted to live a small life. So when I ask myself that question, I am deliberately ensuring that what I am learning and how I am growing has an impact on others.

Question 3 – Who am I APPRECIATING? helps me realise that it has taken a village to make this man called Great, and I don’t want to lose sense of staying humble. Humility is a choice everyday to give credit to God for our blessings and to other people for our successes. So every day, I do my best to ask that question and find answers. You can come up with a list occasionally of people to appreciate for your growth.

Question 4 – What am I DELIVERING? makes me focus on being productive. Productivity is not an accident, it’s an intentional act. I am an employee of an organisation who is being paid to deliver value to clients, therefore, it is my responsibility to deliver. Most times I am faced with many things to do, but to be productive requires me to prioritise.

As a leader in my organisation, It is my duty to make my team better by showing up and adding value to the players and promoting teamwork. Because commitment must start with the leader and extend to the team.

I ask myself few questions daily, but these 4 questions are pivotal to leading myself everyday.

What questions do you ask yourself everyday?

If we must lead, we must ask useful questions.

I wish you a productive 2nd Quarter of 2025.

I’m rooting for you,
The Great Owete
