How Do You Define Success?

Dear Leader,

I trust this meets you in pursuit of wisdom.

Growing up, I have had many definitions of success from many people. In fact, I accepted different definitions at different phases of my life.

But in the last few years as I took my studentship in leadership more seriously, I decided on the definition of success that works for me and I believe so well that it captures any level of success no matter who you are or what you do.

“Success is knowing my purpose, maximising my potential and using it to benefit others”.

Break it down

  • Know my purpose. To discover this, it begins with God. Look to Him who made you, look at your strengths and the things that come easily to you. Most times your purpose is connected to your giftedness. You are not called to do something you have no design for.
  • Maximising my potential. It happens by growing daily in your purpose. Improvement is always related to ability. Work on the strengths you discover about yourself,
  • And finally, do everything to the benefit of others, by giving your best. Intentionally add value to people. A tree does not eat itself, it benefits others. You are like a tree made to bring pleasure to God, and for the benefit of the world.

If I’m able to do these 3 things, I am successful.

What about you? Go into this week with this consciousness.

I’m rooting for you,
The Great Owete
