Don’t Lead Alone

Dear Leader,

I trust this meets you in pursuit of wisdom.

I have never heard any company say “we already have too many leaders in our organisation, so we don’t need more leaders”.

Whether you know it or not, there is a shortage of leaders and leadership in the world. No matter how many good leaders an organisation or a country seems to have, it always needs more leaders.

We need YOU.

As you grow your leadership, always know that there is a shortage of leaders in the world. In the early stage, when you start developing yourself as a leader, you will not always be rewarded the way you should be. People may not always listen to you or follow you and that may want to discourage you.

But don’t be discouraged.

Leadership is the difficult task and skill that no one single person ever gets to master. No matter what you know about leadership, you have to remain a student. Even the greatest leaders from history have blind spots and weak areas.

That is why organisations need to develop more people to become leaders across every level. It is easier to lead when everyone is thinking like a leader. A team of leaders is always more effective than a single leader in the organisation. That is why it baffles me why people do nothing in a full year to improve their leadership ability. A group of leaders working together is always more effective than one leader working alone.

As a leader yourself, work on developing a team of leaders wherever you find yourself and always shape a culture of leadership. It will help you improve in your leadership and help the organisation become better to fulfil its vision.

A team of people will always be more powerful than an individual working alone because ONE is too small a number to achieve greatness.

Don’t lead alone. A team of leaders is better. Lead, but get others to lead too.
