42 Generations? Leaders Should think like God

Dear Leader,

I trust this meets you in pursuit of leadership.

I’ve spent more than a decade studying leadership and observing leaders, and I have come to terms with one thing all great leaders have in common.

Leaders have a different perspective – they think beyond the now.

The societal disease of our generation is short term thinking. Today, a lot of us focus on what is trending as against what is great for our nation and what is best for the future. There is so much emphasis on the short term that we forget that anything worthwhile requires a leader to play the long game.

After the fall of Adam, it took God “42 Generations” to complete the salvation agenda through Christ.

Yes, 42 Generations – that’s long term thinking.

It was recorded in Matthew 1:17 “So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.” (Emphasis mine)

If you add the numbers together (14 x 3 = 42), that’s 42 Generations – that’s roughly 2000 years.

God used long term thinking and planning to save the human race. God covered every step and prepared every person to participate until the plan was complete.

This is incredible, and this teaches us really how to think like a leader.

This week, Think like God.

In all you do, play the long game. 42 Generations after now we will no longer be here, but what will you be remembered for?

Think of generations, think of legacy.

I’m rooting for you,
The Great Owete
